How to look after wedding guests from abroad? A few tips

Organising a wedding is quite complex, especially if some of the guests are coming from abroad. It is then worth thinking in advance about a few important solutions that will minimise the risk of problems, so that everyone has a great time – both the couple and their guests.

Organisational matters

The first important thing is to settle the key organisational matters related to the arrival of friends or family from abroad. You need to decide who will be responsible for accommodation – whether it is up to the newlyweds or whether guests arrange it themselves.

If we agree that travel and accommodation during their stay in Poland is up to each invited guest, it would be good to let them know the wedding date early. Our guests may be travelling from far away and need to book, for example, plane tickets well in advance.

If the wedding is held in a poorly connected location with hard-to-find accommodation, it is worth telling our guests where to look for rooms and how to get there, or simply arranging these matters ourselves.

A guide

If we only have a handful of foreign guests, it is worth choosing a person who will act as a kind of guide for them during the wedding and around it. In the whirlwind of preparations, the couple may not find a free moment to accompany these guests.

When organising an international wedding, we may invite more foreigners. In that case it is a good idea to print a special leaflet with the most important informationthat may be useful for guests from abroad. This gives them a degree of independence while making sure they do not feel lost. If you know that certain cultural aspects or wedding customs may be incomprehensible or simply unfamiliar to your guests, it is worth telling them in advance what to expect – from bringing gifts, to taking part in the traditional wedding games, to free-flowing drinks during the reception.

An MC who will entertain everyone

The key to a successful party at many weddings is the music and the choice of the person responsible for it. When we plan a wedding with guests from abroad, the DJ we work with must be comfortable with at least English. This language is universal enough to work even when different cultures mix on the dance floor.

In addition to the DJ, a good solution is to hire an MC (also comfortable with foreign languages), who will make sure that nobody in the room is left not knowing how to join in the fun with everyone else.

If you are looking for someone like that for your wedding, go to the “Contact” tab and arrange a call with us!

Matt Remay Group includes, among others, people who at special occasions such as weddings act as DJ and MC (host), all accompanied by excellent live music. We look forward to hearing from you!
