When organising music for a wedding ceremony, more and more couples invite musicians who play solo on various instruments. The violin takes a leading place among them. And what about live performances by violinists or other instrumentalists at the wedding reception? In this article we consider the idea of including the violin in the wedding party.
Violin at the ceremony
During a church ceremony you can often hear popular pieces such as Alleluia, Ave Maria or even Mendelssohn's Wedding March played on the violin. Why do couples choose to work with a violinist? It is a very pleasant addition to the music we hear in church. Organ and violin duets can create an amazing atmosphere, and the right repertoire can bring tears to the eyes of both the guests and the couple.
If the wedding takes place at a registry office, then all the more a few pieces played on the violin will give the moment of getting married a dignified character. Moreover, in such a case the violin will be the ideal instrument, as it is easy to carry, needs little space and gives an effect a hundred times more attractive than Mendelssohn's March played from a recording, or even a piece played on an often worn-out organ (some registry offices have one).
While nobody is likely to mind the choice of repertoire at a registry office, it can be different in church. Sometimes couples set their hearts on Cohen's Hallelujah played on the violin, but some parishes do not allow such pieces. Then it is worth considering an alternative.
Violin at the reception
But does the violin have to be associated only with ceremony music? Music at a wedding is not just a band or a DJ. You can successfully hire a solo violinist. Not only will they play your favourite songs that did not get the parish's approval, but they will also add interesting variety to the wedding music. Over the years there has been a growing trend towards outdoor weddings in elegant, almost fairy-tale gardens full of flowers, where music provides a tasteful, delicate background. The violin works perfectly here. Only as a background? Of course not! When planning wedding attractions, we can include a mini solo concert of classical violin in the programme, or invite an electric violinist. The guests' impressions will certainly be unforgettable.
When hiring a DJ to run our party, we can ask them straight away to work with a violinist. By hiring a DJ from Matt Remay Group, you can be sure that your reception will have an unforgettable atmosphere, and the violinist will adapt the repertoire to the taste of both the guests and the couple, improvising and playing pieces selected especially for the occasion.
